The Cotton Club
Although opened in 1923 as a speakeasy, The Cotton Club soon became a hangout for white Patrons. Only whites were catered to in this club, but black artists often performed there. The club was named after cotton because of its plantation theme, complete with a predominately black staff. The cotton Club has been temporarily shut down many time since its grand opening but is currently open today inHarlem.
